© Yodel AnecdotalVery soon Google will be releasing an application which will enable Google Voice users to make and receive calls on their desktop computers and laptop computers. As of now, for receiving calls with your Google Voice number you are required to be linked to a cellphone or landline.
The Google Voice Client is expected to enable you to make and receive calls directly from your desktop computers and laptop computers, similar to Skype. This means you will able to use your computer as phone for receiving and sending calls. This feature has come out of Gizmo5, a VoIP company which Google recently acquired.
Google Voice is paired with your phone for sending and receiving calls, accepting voice mails and text messages. Currently you can use Google Voice call from a computer where you need to enter a number and Google rings back one of the phone added to the account.
As of now the client is being tested internally and is expected to release pretty soon.
